Kentwood and Tahoma are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Conquerors are taking a road trip to face off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Kentwood comes in on three and Tahoma on ten.
On Thursday, Kentwood earned a 7-3 win over Kennedy Catholic.

Gabby Greenwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Joe Francis-Rodrigues and Ell Sakai did most of the damage at the plate: Francis-Rodrigues went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Sakai earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Sofia Mottern Salinas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs.
Meanwhile, Tahoma's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Mt. Rainier get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Alexa Ramirez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Ramirez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Tahoma got a massive performance out of Mia Hammington, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Jones, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3.
Tahoma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Rainier only posted an OBP of .250.
Tahoma pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Kentwood, their record is now 3-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kentwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tahoma struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kentwood suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Tahoma in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Conquerors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
