Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Artesia

While Artesia put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Goddard. The Bulldogs blew past the Rockets 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kayden Apodaca made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Jenna Whitmire was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kambry Collins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Artesia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was the fourth in a row for Artesia, bringing their record up to 16-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Goddard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-10.

Artesia has already played their next contest, a 7-1 win against Lovington on the 29th. As for Goddard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-7 victory against Portales on the 29th.
