Beamer extended their losing streak to 13 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-14. They lost 16-3 to the Jefferson Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 last Thursday.
Beamer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nellie Jokinen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Elise Nguyen was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Jefferson, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.
On Jefferson's side, Delaney Merritt made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Merritt has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jesabella Arceo and Julia Mears did most of the damage at the plate: Arceo got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Mears went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Arceo has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Naomi Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Beamer will face off against Federal Way at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Jefferson, they will square off against Mt. Rainier at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
