It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Apex Friendship Patriots had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against Southeast Raleigh as Apex Friendship made off with a 27-6 victory. The result was nothing new for Apex Friendship, who have now won five matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Jaden Avery was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Southeast Raleigh to a paltry 167 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Apex Friendship's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Tsadiq Jones was especially locked on to Southeast Raleigh's QB and sacked him twice.
The victory (which was Apex Friendship's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Cary and 2-8 Green Level (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.5% over those games). As for Southeast Raleigh, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Apex Friendship will be playing in front of their home fans against Laney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Laney is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Southeast Raleigh does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
