Softball Recap: Seacrest Country Day Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Seacrest Country Day won against Lely last Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Stingrays put the hurt on the Everglades City Gators with a sharp 12-6 win. Considering the Stingrays have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Caroline Porter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jolie Booth was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Finley Magee-Fullam, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

Seacrest Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Seacrest Country Day's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Everglades City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Seacrest Country Day will face off against Mason Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Everglades City, they are taking a road trip to face off against East Lee County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.1 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
