Softball Recap: Queen's Grant Picks Up 12th Consecutive Win

Queen's Grant put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Stallions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Alyssa Steele was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs while going 3-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Queen's Grant let Harmony Hernandez and Nicole Strickland-Mitchell run wild. Hernandez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Strickland-Mitchell fired off two home runs and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Strickland-Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Schott, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Queen's Grant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .758. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Queen's Grant's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Sugar Creek Charter, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Queen's Grant will be playing at home against Monroe at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Queen's Grant is facing Monroe at the right time seeing as Monroe is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Sugar Creek Charter, they will challenge Piedmont Community Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
