Wheeler hasn't had much luck against Belmont recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will host the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Wheeler is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Wheeler will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Hickory Flat, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Eagles blew past the Rebels 16-1 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Brayden Edwards made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Wheeler: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Brady Cobb and Bonds Stephens did most of the damage at the plate: Cobb went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Stephens went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Wheeler is undefeated when Cobb posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Larkin James, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wheeler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Belmont hadn't done well against Tishomingo County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Cardinals walked away with a 7-4 win over the Braves.
Casey Myers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Belmont's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Madden Wood, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Alex Hodum also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Belmont's win ended a ten-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-19. As for Wheeler, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Wheeler might still be hurting after the 16-5 defeat they got from Belmont when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
