Deposit-Hancock and Unadilla Valley are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. Deposit-Hancock will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Unadilla Valley Storm at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Deposit-Hancock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
Deposit-Hancock's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walton.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zech Begeal, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Zach Russell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Unadilla Valley, who are still winless after their eighth match. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-34 walloping at the hands of Charlotte Valley back in December of 2023. While losing is never fun, Unadilla Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 778th, while Charlotte Valley is ranked 299th).
Deposit-Hancock's record is now 8-5. As for Unadilla Valley, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Deposit-Hancock was able to grind out a solid win over Unadilla Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 46-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Deposit-Hancock since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
