The Sheets Memorial Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by Surry HomeSchool 70-24. Sheets Memorial Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
Despite the loss, Sheets Memorial Christian saw an underclassman step up: Karter Dykes scored six points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Dykes posted two or more blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sheets Memorial Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Surry HomeSchool posted 14 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Surry HomeSchool to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Butcher, who scored 24 points along with eight steals. That's the first time this season that Butcher scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Hayden Williams, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Sheets Memorial Christian's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-9. As for Surry HomeSchool, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.
Sheets Memorial Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Surry HomeSchool, they will head out on the road to take on South Guilford HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Guilford HomeSchool knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Surry HomeSchool likes a good challenge.
