After a string of four wins, Marshall County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to the Tullahoma Wildcats 72-68. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-63 back in January.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jabrae Howard, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Aja Jones, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and four steals.
Xavier Farrell was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 22 on his way to 35 points and seven boards for Tullahoma. The team also got some help courtesy of Khani Johnson, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points.
Marshall County's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Tullahoma, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-3.
A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Marshall County Tigers face off against the Giles County Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matches -- so hopefully Giles County likes a good challenge. As for Tullahoma, they will take on Central Magnet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
