The South Mecklenburg Sabres were handed a three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Coastal Christian Centurions on Saturday. South Mecklenburg took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 79-33 victory over Coastal Christian. Given South Mecklenburg's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Coastal Christian is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Mecklenburg had a senior duo take command as Peter Moye scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five assists and Anderson Skelton scored 19 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Skelton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ben Houpt, who scored nine points.
South Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Coastal Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Mecklenburg will take on Myers Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Coastal Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully John Paul II Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
