Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Evergreen's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Evergreen had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Wheat Ridge on Saturday. The Cougars blew past the Farmers 20-3. Considering the Cougars have won four games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Evergreen got a massive performance out of Jack Berendes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Brody March, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Evergreen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Evergreen has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wheat Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
