Sadly, the Inter-Lakes Lakers are still looking for their first win of the season after 15 matchups. They had to suffer through a rough 49-17 loss at the hands of Newfound Regional. Inter-Lakes was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-4.
Despite the defeat, Inter-Lakes saw an underclassman step up: Soriya Richards scored four points along with four blocks. It was the first time this season that Richards posted two or more blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Inter-Lakes struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-6) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Inter-Lakes' defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Newfound Regional, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Inter-Lakes will take on Winnisquam at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Inter-Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday. As for Newfound Regional, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Newport at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Hampshire (Newfound Regional is ranked 82nd, while Newport is ranked 75th).
