The Peach County Trojans were the 54-0 winner over the Upson-Lee Knights when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Peach County and Upson-Lee were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Peach County suffered an agonizing 21-20 defeat. Peach County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Upson-Lee found their leader in underclassman Nicholas Wells, who threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Upson-Lee also got a significant boost from Ja'Quan Bentley, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 129 yards.
Peach County has fallen quite a ways from their 8-4 record last season and are now at 2-6. As for Upson-Lee, the win was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peach County will take on Pike County at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Pike County is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Upson-Lee, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mary Persons at 7:30 p.m. Mary Persons is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
