Memphis Central is 9-1 against Kingsbury since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will host the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Kingsbury took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Memphis Central, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Memphis Central made easy work of Cordova and carried off an 11-2 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.
Evan Nelson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Memphis Central got a massive performance out of Patrick Ryan, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Malachai Adams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Meanwhile, Kingsbury didn't have quite enough to beat Whitehaven on Tuesday and fell 9-7.
Landon Harris was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Deangelo Baker, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Memphis Central's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Kingsbury, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9-1 record this season.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Memphis Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Kingsbury struggles in that department as they've averaged .378. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Memphis Central took their victory against Kingsbury in their previous meeting last Wednesday by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
