Branford has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Trenton Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Branford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Trenton likes a good challenge.
Branford has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 28 points or more this season. They blew past Countryside Christian, posting a 70-32 win at home. Given Branford's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Countryside Christian is ranked 777th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Trenton's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 42-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chiefland. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Trenton has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Trenton saw an underclassman step up: Mason VunCannon scored nine points.
Trenton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Branford's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Trenton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Branford came up short against Trenton in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 46-42. Thankfully for Branford, Xavier Jones (who scored 19 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
