South Point is 1-9 against Fairland since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The South Point Pointers will head out on the road to face off against the Fairland Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, South Point beat Rock Hill 35-25. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points South Point has scored all year.
Meanwhile, Fairland put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ironton 75-23 on the road. The result was nothing new for Fairland, who have now won four matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Bailey Russell, who scored 20 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for she. Bree Allen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals and five assists.
South Point pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Fairland, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
South Point might still be hurting after the 58-34 defeat they got from Fairland in their previous matchup back in January. Thankfully for South Point, Tomi Hinkle (who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
