Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Pine Creek Eagles walked away with it. They took down Denver East 41-24 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for Pine Creek who now have three in a row.
Jonathan Coar continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 219 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry. Coar is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Miller, who rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Sean Campbell and Elijah West duah certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Campbell gained 112 total yards and a touchdown, while West duah rushed for 26 yards and two touchdowns.
Pine Creek's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 17.5 points. As for Denver East, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Pine Creek will be playing at home against Ralston Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Ralston Valley is ranked fourth, while Pine Creek is ranked fifth). Denver East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
