2A Conference 8 recap September 24, 2013
T.W. Andrews was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 2A Conference 8. The Red Raiders defeated Bartlett Yancey 61-6 earlier in the week.
Eastern Randolph scaled the state rankings by moving to 195 from 231 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wildcats climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Jordan-Matthews 17-16.
Rontei Wilkes was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 155 yards on 8 carries as T.W. Andrews bested the Buccaneers. Marquell Cartwright also contributed to the rushing game with 85 yards on the ground.
Wilkes was a passing and rushing force as Rodney Mckoy's team beat Bartlett Yancey. Wilkes' key target this week was Galloway, who caught 4 passes for 65 yards.
Aaron Cox put up the best numbers in passing as Trinity fell to West Davidson. He had a total of 8 completions for 106 yards. Cox's favorite target this week was Justin McCall, who caught 2 passes for 44 yards.
Galloway was the best wideout in 2A Conference 8 this week as the Red Raiders bested Cory Lea's team.
6-foot-2 quarterback Nathan Sloan of Randleman is the league leader in passing yards this season with 595. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Lea. The T.W. Andrews star has 12 catches for 310 yards.
T.W. Andrews added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Buccaneers, 61-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
