After having lost a blowout in their previous game against College Achieve, the Weequahic Indians were happy to have found some success on Sunday. They were the clear victor by a 69-47 margin over Hillside. With Weequahic ahead 42-22 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Weequahic found their leader in underclassman Tyhir Barlow, who scored 40 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barlow has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Riyahd Mcdonald, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Weequahic's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Hillside, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weequahic will take on Golda Och Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillside, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bard at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Bard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 672nd in New York, while Hillside is ranked 218th in New Jersey).
