Saugatuck had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 12-16 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Fennville Blackhawks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the fifth time they've come up short against the Blackhawks this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-8 defeat last Saturday.

Saugatuck saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Drummond, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Drummond has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
As for Fennville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-17. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against Saugatuck since May 20, 2023.
On Fennville's side, Ely Schut made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, Schut posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Fennville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-17 otherwise.
In other batting news, Mason Sabala was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Seamus Lynch, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
While Saugatuck had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
