Basketball Recap: KIPP Legacy Extends Winning Streak to Nine

KIPP Legacy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Southwestern Spartans with a sharp 97-73 win. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

KIPP Legacy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shalon Robinson, who went 10 of 17 on his way to 28 points along with six assists and five boards. With that strong performance, Robinson is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmere Evans, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds.

KIPP Legacy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

KIPP Legacy pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Southwestern, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. KIPP Legacy will take on Richmond in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. KIPP Legacy is facing Richmond at the right time seeing as Richmond is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Southwestern and Waldron will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st.
