Even though the Saranac Lake Red Storm have not done well against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Saranac Lake walked away with a 58-45 victory over Northeastern Clinton. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Saranac Lake.
It was another big night for Caleb Akey, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mik Denkenberger, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Brown, who scored 21 points. Max Rabideau was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Saranac Lake's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Northeastern Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saranac Lake will take on Ticonderoga at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ticonderoga and Saranac Lake are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Northeastern Clinton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Saranac at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Saranac focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday.
