After flying high against the Owendale-Gagetown Bulldogs last Friday, the Mayville Wildcats came back down to earth. Mayville suffered a tough 52-27 defeat at the hands of the Eagles on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mayville has scored all season.
Mayville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Halsne, who scored seven points. Halsne is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Mayville dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Deckerville, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayville will square off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Huron has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12. As for Deckerville, they will head out on the road to square off against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
