Soddy Daisy is 8-2 against East Hamilton since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will head out to take on the Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Soddy Daisy made easy work of Red Bank and carried off a 13-1 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Skylar Gooden and Ava Blue did most of the damage at the plate: Gooden went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Blue went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Blue has posted over her last eight contests. Chloe McDonald also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Soddy Daisy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, East Hamilton was able to grind out a solid victory over Ardmore on Friday, taking the game 11-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hurricanes.
The team relied heavily on Jada Rutley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bailey Poschke, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Soddy Daisy's record is now 14-10-1. As for East Hamilton, their record now sits at 7-4.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Soddy Daisy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like East Hamilton struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Soddy Daisy beat East Hamilton 5-1 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
