After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carterville, Pinckneyville was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Frankfort Redbirds by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Panthers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kolton Smith spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pinckneyville is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Ayden Buza was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Brayden Cleland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Pinckneyville's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-8. As for Frankfort, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.
