In other batting news, Grady Mongan was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Shogren was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Pine River-Backus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Nevis fell victim to Cannon Falls and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bombers, falling 7-0. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Nevis saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devan Lindow, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Lindow is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
The win got Pine River-Backus back to even at 6-6. As for Nevis, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-4.
