Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the La Vega Pirates walked away with it. They blew past the Badgers 103-20 on the road on Monday. La Vega has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 24 points or more this season.
La Vega's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mar?Cyah Willis led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three steals. Willis has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was CeMaria Kelly, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
The win was the 11th in a row for La Vega, bringing their record for this year to 29-8. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 58.6 points. As for Lampasas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-25.
La Vega will take on La Grange at TBD on Thursday. La Vega knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully La Grange likes a good challenge. Lampasas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
