Baseball Recap: Lovelady's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lovelady came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Normangee Panthers. Considering the Lions have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyler Gilchrist made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brady Mikes was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Brady McCullough was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Lovelady's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-10-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Normangee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Lovelady will challenge Coldspring-Oakhurst at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Normangee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
