The Divine Savior Academy Sharks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Reagan 33-14. That 33-14 margin sets a new team best for Divine Savior Academy this season.
Divine Savior Academy found their leader in underclassman Alessia Silva, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Silva has scored at least 25% of Divine Savior Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Sofia Mueller, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Reagan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrea Alvarez, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Alvarez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Sophia Naranjo-palma was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six steals.
Divine Savior Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Reagan, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Divine Savior Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome St. Brendan at 5:00 p.m. on January 11th. St. Brendan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Divine Savior Academy in Florida (St. Brendan is ranked 256th, while Divine Savior Academy is ranked 573rd). Reagan won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sunset at 5:00 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Sunset focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Monday.
