The Walkertown Wolfpack will challenge the Forsyth Home Educators Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Walkertown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Walkertown fell victim to East Forsyth and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-0. The Wolfpack have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Macy Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.
Meanwhile, Forsyth Home Educators got the win against Ambassador Christian School on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Rebecca Cheek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Madelyn Evans was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Hannah Ellis was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Forsyth Home Educators always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Forsyth Home Educators' win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Walkertown, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Walkertown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Forsyth Home Educators struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Walkertown took their victory against Forsyth Home Educators when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Wolfpack repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
