After flying high against the Richmond Red Devils on Saturday, the Carmel Greyhounds came back down to earth. Carmel was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 42-41 to Westfield. While losing is never fun, Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Westfield is ranked eighth).
Westfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lindsey Van dyke led the charge by scoring 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Samantha Price was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Carmel has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Westfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Carmel will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Wayne Snider at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Westfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Zionsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Zionsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
