Softball Recap: Reading Wins Going Away Against Deer Park

Reading was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Deer Park on Wednesday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 18-4 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Kotah Brisbin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Brisbin was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Reading let Lillie Riedmiller and Brooke Androne run wild. Riedmiller got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Androne scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Mowell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Reading hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.

Reading's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Deer Park, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Reading will square off against Madeira at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Deer Park, they will head out to take on Mt. Healthy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
