The Wiregrass Ranch Bulls were the 56-46 winner over the Mitchell Mustangs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Wiregrass Ranch fell to Mitchell 41-36. Wiregrass Ranch has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wiregrass Ranch's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Claire Kelley, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals. Kelley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Solei Sowell, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Mitchell's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaylana Little, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Little is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carys Thuma, who scored 13 points.
Wiregrass Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Mitchell, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wiregrass Ranch will take on Academy of the Holy Names at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Academy of the Holy Names is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52 points per game. As for Mitchell, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against East Lake at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. East Lake has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
