Baseball Recap: Whitewright Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ector

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whitewright). They put the hurt on the Ector Eagles with a sharp 18-7 win on Friday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Ty Roland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Whitewright is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise. Roland was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Kason Dodson was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Grayson Sullivan was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing Two bases.

The win made it two in a row for Whitewright and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Ector, they moved to 3-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Whitewright will have a chance to go back-to-back against Ector: the pair will be back at it again later today.
