Basketball Recap: Sienna Azzinaro Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family

Timothy Christian proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 35) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family 47-45. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timothy Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sienna Azzinaro, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Azzinaro a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Maria Pozol-Neigo, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals.

Timothy Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family only racked up five assists.

Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family's loss came despite strong showings from Maya Krutul and Nora Kennedy. Krutul went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Kennedy almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Krutul has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 18 times she's played.

Timothy Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.

When Timothy Christian and Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Timothy Christian will try to stop Chicago Hope Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family will take on Westmont and their six-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
