St. Charles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 27 points or more this season. They really took it to Laurel for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-29 victory on the road. Given St. Charles' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Laurel is ranked 146th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for McKenzie Thomas, who scored 36 points along with five steals. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyoko Johnson-Reeves, who scored three points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
St. Charles pushed their record up to 4-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Laurel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
St. Charles and Linganore will round out the year against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Laurel will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Roosevelt at 12:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
