The Heide Trask Titans waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat East Duplin 90-57 at home. Given Heide Trask's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while East Duplin is ranked 596th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heide Trask's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Myron Mckoy, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Mckoy is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sherrod Henderson, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, East Duplin saw an underclassman step up: Zachary Ball scored 15 points along with two steals. Ball has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jordan Hall was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two blocks.
Heide Trask is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for East Duplin, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
Heide Trask will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Columbus at 7:00 p.m. Heide Trask knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully South Columbus likes a good challenge. As for East Duplin, they will head out on the road to challenge South Lenoir at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Duplin is coming into the match with seven straight defeats on the road, meaning South Lenoir will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
