After both having extra time off, the Clovis Wildcats and the Roswell Coyotes will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clovis has three straight victories, Roswell has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Hobbs came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Clovis, but Brynn Petner wouldn't allow it. The Wildcats blew past the Eagles 3-0 on Thursday thanks in part to Petner, who had 16 digs, seven kills, and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 19 games she's played.
While Clovis won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23, 25-18.
Clovis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophie Roberts led the charge by getting ten digs and five kills. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Salazar, who had 12 assists and four digs.
Meanwhile, Roswell didn't have quite enough to beat Carlsbad on Thursday and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Roswell sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 16-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12.
Roswell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Clovis, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Clovis came out on top in a nail-biter against Roswell in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
