The St. Catherine's Angels will take on the Kenosha Christian Life Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Catherine's has given up an average of 14.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
St. Catherine's is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Racine Lutheran/Prairie 18-17. With that win, the Angels brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Issac Cantu made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Cantu was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Max Avila was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Findlay Lalor, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
St. Catherine's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Kenosha Christian Life was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to Luther Prep. The Eagles have struggled against the Phoenix recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Kenosha Christian Life saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Plapp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Kenosha Christian Life now has a losing record of 4-5. As for St. Catherine's, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-4.
St. Catherine's was able to grind out a solid win over Kenosha Christian Life in their previous matchup back in May of 2017, winning 7-2. Do the Angels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
