Halifax Academy has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Brunswick Academy Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Halifax Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 598th in North Carolina, while the Vikings are ranked 228th in Virginia).
Last Tuesday, Halifax Academy was beaten by the Eagles 71-33. Halifax Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-16.
Despite the defeat, Halifax Academy got a solid performance out of Landon Peoples, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Thad Harris, who scored six points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Brunswick Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 68-60 victory over Southampton Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Halifax Academy's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Brunswick Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Halifax Academy beat the Vikings 67-59 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Will Halifax Academy repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
