The Northeastern Bobcats will challenge the Central York Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeastern is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Northeastern barely beat Susquehannock the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Warriors on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Brandon Charleston, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brandt Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Central York was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Spring Grove by a score of 7-4. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won three in a row.
Evan Groff made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Groff was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jon Bluett and Stanton Bair III did most of the damage at the plate: Bluett got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Bair III went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Bair III has become a key player for Central York: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Jacob Laughman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Northeastern's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Central York, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Northeastern took their win against Central York when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 15-9 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
