The South Pike Eagles pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to St. Patrick on the road by a decisive 69-55 margin. South Pike has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, South Pike had strong showings from Lavell Thompson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, and Jovon Leavy, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Leavy scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Harrell, who scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Matt Krass, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds for St. Patrick. The match was Krass' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Brendan Moton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
South Pike's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for St. Patrick, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Pike will take on Wilkinson County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Patrick and Laurel will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
