The Roosevelt Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Chaparral by a score of 59-57. Roosevelt was down 49-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Roosevelt still got an impressive performance from Bryan Wilson, who threw for 344 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Bryndon Henderson also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
It was another big night for Dash Beierly, who rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 306 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Jacob Alvarez did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 57 receiving yards.
Roosevelt's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 6-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Chaparral, Centennial, and Murrieta Valley. As for Chaparral, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chaparral will head out on the road to face off against Oaks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oaks Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Chaparral likes a good challenge.
