The Myers Park Mustangs and the Northwood Chargers (ranked three and 77 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup. Myers Park enjoyed a cozy 63-47 win over Northwood on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but Myers Park sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Myers Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sadiq White Jr., who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sir Mohammed, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Myers Park's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Northwood, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Myers Park will take on Olympic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Myers Park is ranked second). As for Northwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Moore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
