With a playoff win on the line, Barbe rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Northwood Falcons to the tune of 49-21. Considering the Buccaneers have won six contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Jelandon Gray, who rushed for 163 yards while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 55 yards.
Gray was just one part of a punishing run game: Barbe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 471 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jayden Jasmine, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
The win (which was Barbe's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-5. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points over those games. As for Northwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Coming up, Barbe will face off against West Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
