The Colleton County Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. They lost to James Island at home by a decisive 51-32 margin. Colleton County has struggled against James Island recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Colleton County still got an impressive performance from Heaven Green, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Green has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Colleton County struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as James Island pulled down 24 offensive rebounds.
James Island had a senior duo take command as Andrea Duncan scored 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds and Alaina Graf scored 13 points along with six steals. Madisyn Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Colleton County's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-18. As for James Island, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Colleton County will head out on the road to take on May River at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Colleton County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday. As for James Island, they will be playing at home against Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bluffton will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something James Island surely won't give up without a fight.
