Basketball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Knappa

Knappa had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They beat Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 79-65. Given the Loggers' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian are ranked 182nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Knappa pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-9.

Knappa will square off against Vernonia/Jewell at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Knappa knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Vernonia/Jewell likes a good challenge. As for Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gaston at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
