The Buena Vista Bison will head out on the road to challenge the Norfolk Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Buena Vista is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 18-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Buena Vista was beaten by the 67-34. While losing is never fun, Buena Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the are ranked 71st).
Despite the loss, Buena Vista saw an underclassman step up: Mogtaba Mohamed scored eight points along with six assists. Eli Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
While Norfolk couldn't quite beat the Spartans on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 30-point defeat they were dealt on Tuesday. Norfolk fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 67-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Buena Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Norfolk, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
