Basketball Recap: Union Grove Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Union Grove Christian had won seven straight home games and Colin Wykes did his part to make it eight on Friday. The Union Grove Christian Patriots snuck past the Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs with a 48-42 win thanks in part to Wykes, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 23 points. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Collin Lemley, who posted ten points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cole Mathess, who earned 14 points.

Union Grove Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Morgantown Christian Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.

Union Grove Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-49 defeat against Varsity Opponent on the 24th. Morgantown Christian Academy has also already played their next contest, a 60-42 loss against Clay-Battelle on the 27th.
